Immediately after he opened the roof hatch, the man collapsed. The mission code was “rescue people at height (over 10 m)” because the person had to be rescued from a so-called “Epple” high silo.

According to the fire department, fermentation gases had escaped, causing the farmer health problems. With the help of a turntable ladder, the injured man was quickly brought down from the silo and handed over to the emergency services, according to the incident report. The last firefighters returned at 2:28 p.m.
