The girl from Döbeln in central Saxony has been missing for a good week. More than 400 police officers from Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt are on duty, said police spokesman Andrzej Rydzik. They were to comb through meadows, fields and forests in the south of the city in chains. The Federal Agency for Technical Relief is also ready with drones to support the search if necessary.
Dogs, helicopters, divers
“After the operation, which will most likely last into the evening, is over, we will end the area search for the time being,” explained Rydzik. Since the girl disappeared at the beginning of last week, a large police presence has repeatedly searched for the child – so far in vain. Special dogs, a helicopter and divers were also used. The police said that they would not continue the search in this form in the coming days. However, if new information comes up, the area search could be resumed at any time.
Disappeared on the way to school
But the investigations are by no means over. “They are still ongoing and we will intensify them again,” Rydzik assured. Investigations are continuing in all directions. “That means we are not ruling out either the possibility of an accident or a crime.”
The girl, who comes from Ukraine, has been living in Germany with her mother since 2022. She was last seen on June 3rd when she was on her way to school. But she never arrived there.
