The talks took place at the Salesian University of Rome. The Supreme Pontiff had already apologized for another phrase against homosexuals.

Pope Francis’ apologies
After the scandalous phrase, The Supreme Pontiff apologized through a statement from the Vatican Press Room. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruniassured that, using the term “faggot”, the Pope “It was never intended to offend or express itself in homophobic terms.” and “apologizes to those who have felt offended.”
Regarding the phrase “there is already too much queerness in the church,” the statement clarified that “The Pope has never intended to offend or express himself in homophobic terms, and he apologizes to those who have felt offended by the use of a term, reported by others.”
