The 36-year-old man was arrested on Friday in a restaurant in the Czech capital Prague, police in Chemnitz said. He is strongly suspected of having killed the child.
Investigators reportedly tipped off Czech police officers about the citizen of the Republic of Moldova. The Chemnitz public prosecutor’s office had applied for a national and international arrest warrant against him, which was issued by the Chemnitz district court.
Transfer to Germany
The man is currently in the custody of the Czech authorities, it said. The Chemnitz public prosecutor’s office has sent a request for his extradition to the neighboring country. The man, who is wanted for manslaughter, is to be transferred to Germany as soon as possible.
The investigation is reportedly ongoing. No further information can be provided at this time. The girl was searched for for days. Her body was finally found in the undergrowth of a forest near Döbeln.
