Mass demonstrations against the far-right in France

The Paris police prefecture reported a figure of 75,000 demonstrators in the French capital.

According to the organizers, there were around 640,000 people across the country, and in the capital Paris alone, according to the CGT union, 250,000 participants joined a rally. The Paris police prefecture reported a figure of 75,000 demonstrators in the French capital.

The marches have been called for by trade unions, student associations and human rights groups who want to prevent Marine Le Pen’s right-wing nationalist Rassemblement National (RN) party from winning the early parliamentary elections at the end of the month. According to them, a total of 182 events took place across the country, and further demonstrations are planned for Sunday, especially in Lyon.
