At 2:20 p.m., a 44-year-old female driver was driving toward Grieskirchen. A 43-year-old man was driving behind her in his car. A 27-year-old man from Grieskirchen – also traveling toward the district capital – caught up with the two and wanted to overtake them.
During the overtaking maneuver, a 52-year-old car driver came towards him. The 27-year-old tried to get into position in time, but collided with the side of the 43-year-old’s vehicle. As a result of the collision between the two, the 52-year-old’s vehicle crossed the middle of the road into the oncoming lane and subsequently collided with the 44-year-old’s vehicle.
The 27-year-old and the 43-year-old were able to free themselves from their vehicles and were taken to the Ried/Innkreis Clinic with minor injuries after initial treatment.
The 52-year-old was freed from the wreckage by the fire department and then given emergency medical treatment. The injured man was then taken to the Wels-Grieskirchen hospital.
A breathalyzer test was negative for all those involved.
