In the midst of a tense climate in France due to early elections, A tremendous crime against a 12-year-old girl shocks the European country. According to the girl’s complaint, last Saturday, three teenagers between the ages of 12 and 13 gang-raped her, beat her and shouted “dirty Jew” at her. The entire political spectrum condemned the event and fueled the discussion of anti-Semitism.
The incident occurred last Saturday in Courbevoie, a Parisian suburb, according to what the victim reported to the police. On Monday, the alleged perpetrators of the crime were arrested and, shortly after the crime became known, there were protests in the French capital that called for justice and demanded to fight against anti-Semitism.
According to the girl’s complaint to the Paris police, last Saturday she was intercepted by two boysone of whom he vaguely knew, while returning home with a friend. The boys forced her to follow them to a disused daycare center. Then another boy joined in.

The case put the discussion about anti-Semitism and hate speech at the center of the electoral campaign. All political parties and candidates in the June 30 elections expressed their “horror” and repudiation of the crime. For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron called for a debate on the fight against anti-Semitism and racism in all schools.
Macron this Wednesday asked to the Minister of Education, Nicole Belloubet, “to organize a debate in all schools on the fight against anti-Semitism and racism, to prevent hate speech with serious consequences from infiltrating schools,” reported the French president’s office.
