The Captur is a small phenomenon. Rather inconspicuous, the city SUV sold 2.2 million units in just over ten years. Now the French have put their hands on the top seller. To be more precise: Renault’s head of design Gilles Vidal modeled the new face that, after the Clio, now adorns the Captur. Google and sophisticated assistants have also found their way into the lively compact.
Angular daytime running lights
The square comes after the round: Renault replaced the soft shapes of the predecessor with angular details such as the daytime running lights, the side air vents and the radiator grille. Full LED headlights are now standard. The Captur has more visual overlap with the electric Scenic than with the Clio. But no matter, the design follows the modern, angular trend that follows clear, straight structures. There is no underbody protection at the rear, and the diamond logo has shrunk, as it did at the front.
