Andrea Hubmer (VP) wins mayoral election in Holzhausen

The new mayor of Holzhausen Andrea Hubmer

She entered the race for the mayor’s seat as the favorite and crossed the finish line as the winner. 445 citizens (71.31 percent) voted for the VP candidate Andrea Hubmer today. “I did not expect the election to be so clear. I am extremely pleased about that,” said Hubmer in an initial statement to the OÖNachrichten. The 47-year-old lawyer left her two competitors Tino Andrea Fraccaroli (123 votes: 19.71 percent) and Mario Eggetsberger (56 votes: 8.97 percent) far behind.

Inauguration on Thursday

Hubmer succeeds the late VP mayor Andreas Ströbitzer, who died at the beginning of February at the age of just 45. She will be sworn in at the next municipal council meeting on June 27.

The first to congratulate was former mayor Josef Zaininger. Also among those who patted her on the back was Andreas Stockinger, mayoral spokesman in the Wels-Land district and mayor of Thalheim, who was also pleased that another woman is now leading a municipality. Currently, there is only one incumbent female mayor in the district of Offenhausen, Martina Schmuckermayer, also from the ÖVP.

The mother of two teenage sons works part-time for the state of Upper Austria. She is initially planning to hold staff meetings at the municipal office and wants to focus on traffic issues, as the town, which has around 1,050 residents, is suffering from increasing through traffic. As reported, a new attempt is being made to build a cycle path to Marchtrenk. “I want to maintain objective cooperation and respectful interactions with one another in the municipal council,” stresses Hubmer. She celebrated with half the town at the fair that was taking place at the same time.

FP candidate satisfied with result

FP candidate Tino Andrea Fraccaroli is satisfied with the election result. He has almost reached his target of 20 percent. “I am very happy with the result, one in five people voted for me, we will build on that,” says the 34-year-old. Hubmer was his preferred candidate from the VP faction and he assumed that she would be chosen. “We at least applied pressure in terms of advertising before the election, so that one or two people did not rule out a run-off election,” says Fraccaroli.

Disappointment at SP

SP candidate Mario Eggetsberger says of his single-digit election result: “I am a little disappointed. Andrea won the votes that Andreas Ströbitzer won back then. And the Blues are currently stronger.”
