“In order to reduce the risk of chronicity and thus lower the likelihood of comorbid psychiatric illnesses occurring, it is extremely important to treat migraine patients as early and as adequately as possible,” says Sonja-Maria Tesar, President of the Austrian Headache Society. In addition to the drug treatment of acute attacks, according to the neurologist, prophylaxis is a central component of effective migraine therapy.
