On Friday morning at around 10:30 a.m., a witness observed the disabled man, who was using a walker, attacking an e-scooter rider at shoulder height with a knife about 20 centimeters long on Hafenstrasse. However, the e-scooter rider was able to evade the attack and continued on his way unharmed.
A witness to the incident then called the police, who arrested the angry attacker a short time later. The attacker continued to rant and threatened to do the same thing again if the police did not increase checks on cyclists. The man also stated that he did not really want to hurt anyone, but at most just to cause a scratch.
At the police station, the 65-year-old refused to give a written statement. The man was taken to prison on the orders of the Linz public prosecutor. There is currently no trace of the victim.
