The Bolivian justice ordered this Friday the preventive detention for six months to Juan José Zúñiga, Juan Arnez and Alejandro Irahola, accused of leading the “Coup attempt” against the Bolivian government. Zúñiga, former Army commander; the vice admiral Juan Arnez, former head of the Navy (Navy); and Alejandro Iraholaformer head of the Army’s mechanized brigade, will be held in a maximum security prison on the outskirts of El Alto, a city neighboring La Paz.

Although the hearing was virtual, dozens of protesters gathered outside the prosecutor’s office and the police station where Zúñiga is being held, in La Paz, with pro-democracy signs.
