Shortly before 9 p.m., the first fire departments were alerted: There was a fire on Bahnhofstrasse in Vöcklabruck. When the emergency services arrived, the situation was already threatening. “Flames were blazing from some of the windows on the middle floor,” said Commander Klaus Aichmair of the Vöcklabruck Volunteer Fire Department when they arrived.
The fire was quickly alerted. The fire departments of Regau, Attnang Puchheim, Vöcklamarkt and Frankenmarkt came to help. “A thermal imaging drone was also deployed,” Aichmair told the OÖN. Two telescopic mast platforms and a turntable ladder were needed. The roof had to be opened completely during the firefighting operations. A new drilling extinguisher, DRILL-X, was used for this. Rescue services and emergency doctors were on site, and according to initial information, no one was injured.
Building was empty
“The former music school has been empty for some time,” says the commander. The old building burned down completely. The fire was considered extinguished at around 3 a.m. The police have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
