The roof of the wagon was smaller than the paraglider itself. This meant that the Upper Austrian was unable to take off normally. He had to throw the paraglider into the air for a throw start – and let it rise with the wind.

But things didn’t go smoothly right away. “When there was a big knot in the lines after the third failed cast, I thought I would have to give up. But luckily I was able to untie the knot and the wind was
back on my side,” says Brunnbauer.

The next attempt was perfect: the 31-year-old pulled up the paraglider with skillful movements, stabilized it above his head and turned in the direction of flight. “That was the moment when I knew my dream was coming true,” said Brunnbauer, having returned safely to the ground.
Nora Lamac, managing director of the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel, was also satisfied: “We made history today.”
