No staff: Furniture store property in Innviertel available again

The once well-known furniture store D+S in St. Florian is up for sale again after its closure. (gruber)

The former D+S furniture store in the Badhöring district of the municipality of St. Florian am Inn remains empty.

The previous owner retired and sold in 2022 for around 800,000 euros to the local kitchen manufacturer Haka, who wanted to open a “kitchen and furniture studio” at the Schärding location in the short term. But the showroom in a good location on the busy access road to Schärding is still empty.

Severe shortage of good kitchen salespeople

Haka’s management has revealed that they would like to sell the entire property, the commercial building and warehouse, as well as the associated advertising space – a digital information screen that is located on the factory premises. The entire property area is 2455 square meters (sales area and warehouse come to 815 square meters). “Unfortunately, we were unable to open the location as planned due to a lack of staff. It quickly became apparent that there is a severe shortage of good kitchen salespeople in the area.”

Now the renowned Austrian kitchen manufacturer is looking for a potent buyer. The Haka company itself has been manufacturing custom-made kitchen and living room furniture for 90 years and employs 180 people. Expansion course: Since the German sanitary company Villeroy & Boch from Mettlach in Saarland withdrew from bathroom furniture production in Mondsee in September 2023, Haka also acquired this entire site with the entire workforce. “If you can do kitchens, you can do everything else too,” is the core statement of the owner Gerhard Hackl.

Sales are only made through selected carpentry shops, high-quality furniture studios in Austria and sporadically in Bavaria as well as in the three showrooms in Traun, Straßwalchen and Vienna. Hackl is committed to Austria as a location, even if the general conditions are often not easy.

Owner Gerhard Hackl is supported in the management by his daughter Anna Kristina Richter. She is also the company’s marketing manager. Haka is also known for the fact that the factory can deliver a kitchen in just “nine days”.
