The suspect, a 39-year-old Turkish citizen, initially fled but later turned himself in to the police. The background to the incident was unclear, police said on Tuesday.

Between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., the 39-year-old had an argument with three Austrian citizens, two men and a woman, in his apartment. The three then left the apartment, but were followed by the Turkish citizen. According to the police, he stabbed one of the Austrians several times, causing life-threatening injuries.

Suspects arrested
The suspect initially fled, but then went to a police station in Villach to file a report. He was arrested. Neither the perpetrator nor the victim were questioned about the incident until Tuesday morning, police said.
