In the Bad Hall outdoor pool: Nine-year-old rescued drowned girl

Outdoor pool in Bad Hall

There was great excitement on Monday afternoon at the Pfarrkirchen outdoor swimming pool near Bad Hall in the Steyr-Land district after a ten-year-old girl drowned in the swimming pool.

According to a report by the Upper Austria State Police Directorate, it was a ten-year-old girl who reacted quickly and immediately called for help.
According to the police, the incident occurred in the outdoor pool at around 3:45 p.m.

The ten-year-old, a Serbian national who lives in Bremen, Germany, probably suffered an epileptic seizure while swimming and therefore drowned. In any case, her mother lost visual contact.

At the same time, the nine-year-old from Garsten was also in the pool. She watched as the child who had suffered the seizure floated beneath the surface of the water.

The nine-year-old first aider immediately alerted her father. He lifted the ten-year-old out of the pool with the help of his daughter. The lifeguard also came to help immediately. The girl was placed in the recovery position, but fortunately no resuscitation measures were necessary, a police spokeswoman told OÖN when asked.

The Christophorus 10 emergency helicopter, stationed in Hörsching, brought the ten-year-old to Linz, where she was treated in the children’s clinic.
