It was a unanimous party decision last Tuesday to choose Elisabeth Goppold as the VP’s top candidate for the mayoral election on November 17th. Three years ago, the current VP deputy mayor Alexander Hauser was defeated by Vera Pramberger (SP) in the runoff election by a narrow margin of three votes. He will not get another chance. The VP now wants to put a woman in the mayor’s seat. However, after the motion of no confidence against her, Pramberger noted that Kirchdorf might not be ready for a woman at the top.
“I am pleased about the trust of my local council group,” says the 60-year-old councilor, who has been retired since January. Her motto is “Talk to each other as equals.” It is now important “to bring calm and stability back into Kirchdorf’s city politics. At the same time, good cooperation with the other groups in the local council is important to me.”
Goppold has been working for the VP Kirchdorf since 2015. From 2021 to 2024, she was responsible for the entire VP team as chairwoman. She is now retiring from this party function. The mother of two and grandmother of two has been a municipal councilor since 2018 and was already a city councilor from 2021 to 2023. During her professional career with the state of Upper Austria, she gained important government experience, particularly in her roles in the offices of Governor Josef Ratzenböck and the municipal councilors Josef Stockinger and Max Hiegelsberger.
As reported, the Kirchdorf SP is sending city councilor Markus Ringhofer into the race for mayor. The FP and the Greens have not yet announced a candidate for the election.
