The technical outage on Friday, which was related to a software update from the cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, affected less than one percent of all Windows devices, the US software company announced on Saturday. CrowdStrike helped to develop a solution that would enable Microsoft’s cloud platform Azure to speed up the resolution of the problem.

Microsoft has also worked with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform to jointly find effective solutions, it said.

On Friday, a faulty software update from CrowdStrike caused Microsoft applications to crash, leading to one of the largest outages of global IT systems to date, causing massive problems around the globe. International air traffic was particularly affected, but banks and the media also reported disruptions, and hospitals canceled operations.
