Three titles and a points record: Kuhn siblings on the wave of success

The Linz waterski aces Nici and Dominic Kuhn

The waterski national championships at the weekend in Raasdorf near Vienna were extremely successful for the siblings from Linz. “We have a lot to celebrate,” said Nici Kuhn in an interview with OÖN. The 24-year-old managed to defend her title in both the slalom and trick competitions. Brother Dominic was crowned trick national champion, as he did last year, and also set a new Austrian record with 9960 points. Thanks to the Kuhn siblings’ three titles, the Union Wasserskiverein Linz-Donau was also the most successful club at the national championships.

Title number 14 and 15

For the first time, the national championships were held at the Raasdorf water ski center. “The conditions were perfect,” says Nici Kuhn, who secured her 14th and 15th national championship titles.

In the men’s trick competition, the duel between the two Linzers Alexander Gschiel and Dominic Kuhn went into the next round. At the beginning of June, Gschiel set a new Austrian record of 9940 points at the season opener in Alabama. In Vienna, the 20-year-old Kuhn struck back. After the first day of competition, he was still in second place behind Gschiel. In the final, however, he overtook him and improved the record by 20 points. “That was an outstanding performance,” said Nici Kuhn happily with her brother.
