It has been 646 days since the Riederhütte brought tired hikers back to life. It has not been open since October 17, 2022; anyone who wants to get from the Feuerkogel mountain station across the plateau to the Hochleckenhaus must either be well trained or make do with the winter room.
This will slowly come to an end from August 15th. Slowly, because initially only day visitors will get their money’s worth – the first, the eleventh and the 111th will even be full. They will win non-cash prizes sponsored by the Rieder Brewery and Badis Adventures (canyoning tours and climbing courses).
The hut is open from August 15th to 18th from 9am to 4pm. Anyone who arrives before then is excluded from the competition. On Sunday evening, three darts will decide on further prizes, this time sponsored by the Ried Alpine Association and the alpine school of the new hut owner, Stephan Jobke.
And he’s getting up close and personal on the opening weekend: every day at 2 p.m. he’ll be offering guests a tour of the hut, and from 3 p.m. he’ll be available for a chat. “I’m interested in what connects guests with the hut and the Höllengebirge,” he says.
From 13 to 15 September and from 27 to 29 September you can stay overnight at the Riederhütte, and from 7 to 26 October it will be open continuously for the first time this year.
