The number of travelers at Vienna Airport is increasing: According to board member Günther Ofner, the busiest travel day in history was recorded at the end of June, with 113,000 passengers. This was also a challenge for officials at the Austrian Customs Office, which is part of the Ministry of Finance. They checked almost 21,000 travelers this year and arrested around 2,500 people. In the tobacco sector, 569,052 cigarettes and 3,749 cigars and cigarillos were confiscated in a total of 579 seizures. In addition, 156 kilograms of water pipe tobacco were seized.
