22,000 euros of counterfeit money spent in the Salzkammergut: Two young men confess

After intensive investigations by the Upper Austrian State Criminal Police Office in cooperation with the Austrian National Bank and the Federal Criminal Police Office, it was possible to solve a series of counterfeit money in the Salzkammergut.

According to the report, a 20-year-old from the Gmunden district and a 21-year-old from the Vöcklabruck district are suspected of having ordered counterfeit banknotes on the darknet and then used them in payment transactions. During house searches, investigators seized a total of 314 counterfeit 50-euro banknotes and three counterfeit 20-euro banknotes, as well as mobile phones. So far, the two have been found to have received counterfeit money totaling 22,060 euros.

During their interrogation they made full confessions. They are being reported while at liberty.
