The man had climbed to the top of the “Frozen Wall” with three friends. The 63-year-old man in front of him lost his footing for unknown reasons on a ridge block climb that was currently bare and partly secured with steel cables, police said. He fell over rocky terrain into the depths. The police helicopter recovered the dead man.

The accident occurred at an altitude of 3,180 meters. The man’s three companions returned to the mountain station on their own and alerted the emergency services. The crew of the emergency helicopter could only confirm the man’s death.
He was eventually rescued with a rope. The police have not yet disclosed the 63-year-old’s nationality, citing that relatives have not yet been informed.
