Five fire brigades were alerted to a fire in a pile of wood in the village of Moosham in Geinberg on Friday evening shortly before 11 p.m.
The flames could already be seen for miles as they approached, say emergency personnel from the Moosham fire department. “When we arrived, the following picture emerged: A pile of wood was burning next to a machine hall,” says the Geinberg fire department. Tree trunks and cut branches were already ablaze.
The pile of wood was cut up using a telehandler to extinguish the embers. The fire departments of Moosham, Geinberg, Altheim, Gurten and Mühlheim am Inn were on duty. The last helpers were able to return at 2 a.m. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
