Offices are picking up momentum and capacity occupancy is increasing across Europe. This is shown by a survey of 120 companies conducted by real estate service provider CBRE.
According to the study, average building occupancy has risen from 48 percent in 2023 to 61 percent recently. Only a third of companies report occupancy of 40 percent or less. Last year, almost half of all respondents reported this. The largest companies (5,000 employees or more) are more successful in getting their employees into the office: almost two-thirds of this group report occupancy of 41 percent or more. The proportion of employees who go to the office three or more days a week has risen from 37 to 43 percent.
As occupancy rates increase, the implementation of internal regulations continues to increase. The CBRE study found that more than three-quarters of companies have some form of attendance policy, although only 40 percent said these policies are mandatory. A further 17 percent said decisions about office attendance are made by individual teams, suggesting a lack of consistent approaches to monitoring and enforcing regulations.
