Both the former deputy and her presidential candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutiacalled on their supporters to come forward to protest against the results of Sunday’s vote. These were rectified in the last few hours by the National Electoral Council (CNE) which gave Maduro the victory with 52% of the votes, while Urrutia obtained the 43%.

To call for the mobilization, Machado used her social networks and wrote: “We are all with our family, with our children, grandchildren, grandparents in all the cities of Venezuela (…) because we are going to pay tribute to each of those heroes who made themselves count and defend the will of the Venezuelans and that today the regime pursues”.

And I add. “Now we are going to get paid, so we must remain firm, organized and mobilized, with the pride of having achieved a historic victory on July 28 and the awareness that to get paid we will also go all the way.”.
For his part, Nicolás Maduro announced hours before the march that ordered the country’s capital to be closed to “protect it”. For this reason, he gave precise orders to the Intelligence Forces and the police to “protect Greater Caracas.” At the same time, he called for a mobilization for Saturday, which he called “the mother” of “all the marches to celebrate the victory.”
The position of other countries on the situation in Venezuela
After it was announced that Nicolás Maduro was elected to be the president, Five Latin American countries reacted and recognized Urrutia’s victory in the presidential elections.
Peru was the first. He recognized González Urrutia as the “legitimate president of Venezuela,” dismissing the Venezuelan electoral authority that proclaimed Maduro for a third six-year term.
After repeated calls for transparency, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Panama On Friday, the opposition acknowledged victory. In the case of the United States, the head of diplomacy said: Antony Blinkenassured that the “overwhelming evidence” certifies González Urrutia as the winner of the elections.
Maduro, meanwhile, thanked the efforts of the presidents of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva; Colombia, Gustavo Petro; and Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, in favor of a political agreement in Venezuela.
“President Lula, President Petro and President López Obrador are working together so that Venezuela is respected, so that the United States does not do what it is doing“, the president commented.
