He presidential candidate of the National Party (PN), Alvaro Delgadoagain criticized the Broad Front (FA) assuring that the opposition political force would limit the “freedom” of Uruguayan society if it returned to power, because it is the “Big Brother” that “wants to regulate everything”, in a direct reference to the famous novel “1984”, written by George Orwell.

This Saturday, within the framework of the National Youth Congress of the PN, the white candidate hardened his speech on the road to the October elections, launching criticism against the FA presidential candidate, Yamandú Orsiand calling on militant youth to “go out and campaign with enthusiasm” and “hold on tight” to the party flag.

“There are some things that differentiate us from the Frente Amplio. This is the party of freedom. For us, a successful administration, in addition to having more money in our pockets, housing and access to education, is an administration that makes us freer and more prosperous,” Delgado said.

Along the same lines, he argued that “the alternative” to the freedom of citizens is “to return to the logic of the Broad Front,” which is “Big Brother who wants to see everything, control everything and regulate everything.”

“We are no longer dreams or expectations, now we are management and results”

“We have a lot to show, we are no longer dreams or expectations, now we are management and results,” said Delgado in reference to the 2019 campaign, when there were certain doubts about how an unprecedented campaign would work. Multicolor Coalition headed by the PN.

Delgado also indicated that his political force has the programs and proposals necessary for the country, as well as “a technical team that is prepared and tested,” as well as “ready to continue governing.” Last Thursday, it was announced that the former president of the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU), Diego Labatwould be the minister of Economy and Finance (MEF) in a potential PN government.

As for Orsi, he again hinted at the idea that the FA is “hiding” its candidate. “First they hid the program, now they are hiding the candidate,” he said.
