He Broad Front (FA) requested in the commission Treasury-Health to amend the bill submitted by the Executive power for the financing of the Medical Union of Uruguay Assistance Center (Casmu), so that the resources that the State would provide can be controlled.

The Broad Front senator, Sandra Lazo, Member of the Finance-Health Commission assured that the legislators of his party put on the table the possibility of applying more controls to the mutual fund once the bill on the guarantee fund that would be provided by the State.

Lazo stressed that the project, so far, has no conditions, so they are seeking to ensure that the money provided by the government can be used correctly. “This project that we are discussing now does not include any conditions,” he warned.

Meanwhile, the senator commented that the situation of the Casmu could have been dealt with much earlier. “Their reports coincide with the situation that is present today” and he assured that “these measures could have been taken earlier”, taking into account the information provided by the observers of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and the Casmu.

Negotiations are moving forward

Yesterday, authorities from the MSP and Casmu participated in a session of the Senate Health Committee integrated with the Treasury to discuss the financing requested by the Executive power to provide assistance to the mutual fund that is experiencing serious financial problems.

President Casmu, Raul Rodriguez, He said at a press conference that during the exchange the institution’s position regarding the bill promoted by the Executive was made clear and he assured that the mutual fund is a good payer and that it has met all the commitments assumed. “There is no one who can claim anything in that sense from this institution,” he stressed.

For her part, the head of the health portfolio, Karina Randosaid that at the meeting they understood the importance of providing the loan to Casmu. “The importance was understood, I think that the legislators who expressed themselves, at least, all those who expressed themselves, were in favor of giving economic support to the institution. With certain nuances,” he commented.

Meanwhile, he insisted that the mutual fund urgently needs the guarantee fund to be approved and assured that “the Parliament “The intervention itself is planned for a year, and we think that this will somehow reverse the economic-financial situation so that there is no time limit, but that the mutual society can continue to walk alone,” he added and stressed that the intervention in the mutual society cannot be done without money.

“It is unlikely that they will be able to finish with a clean slate, because the institution’s debt is much higher than what is being requested, meaning that debts will continue. But what is expected is that a balance will be reached in which suppliers are paid so that they can continue to operate,” he said.
