The coordinator of the MTOP He described the refund as “historic” through his social networks and gave some details of the benefit that citizens who use metropolitan transport will have access to.
“Starting today, $4 million will be returned to 11,344 users of the services of metropolitan transportrepresenting the largest amount and number of passengers who access the benefit in a single month,” he commented on his social networks following the information update carried out by the MTOP through automatic discounts on tickets with the STM card when using multiple transportation services within the Metropolitan Area.
In this way, Hernandez commented on who will be the beneficiaries of this return. “The system returns 10% of what was spent on tickets to those who make 30 or more trips per leg in the same month with the STM card, currently used by 40% of users,” he explained.
On the other hand, the head of the transport portfolio highlighted the change made from 2021 where all suburban companies were able to incorporate the STM card, replacing the traditional fertilizer. “Since March 2021, with the inclusion of all suburban companies, the STM card replaced the traditional season ticket,” he said.
“Since then, it is not necessary for the user to have all the money at the beginning of the month as was usual, since they can make minimum top-ups of up to $100 and make the required trips in any metropolitan company to access the discount. In addition, since it is anonymous, it can be used by anyone,” he added.
