The voting intention for the PIT-CNT plebiscite fell to 41% and the number of undecided voters increased

The voting intention in the plebiscite against the social security reform promoted by the PIT-CNT fell to 41%, while the number of undecided voters is growing in a context where almost half of the population said they are “not at all informed” about the popular consultation of the trade union center.

The latest Opción Consultores survey showed that the number of people who say they will cast an envelope in the October general election fell from 44% in May to 41% in July. However, the percentage of people who say they will not vote for the initiative also fell from 39% to 38% during that period, with the number of undecided voters climbing from 17% to 21%.

In turn, 44% of Uruguayans admitted that they were not “not informed at all” on the main details of the plebiscite, while 40% said they were “somewhat informed”. For their part, those who understand that they are “very informed” reached 13%.

In the breakdown, 39% of those “not at all informed” will vote in favour despite their lack of knowledge, 30% will vote against and 31% do not know or preferred not to answer. Among those who are “somewhat informed” the voting intention reaches 43%, rejection reaches 40%, and those who have not yet decided are the remaining 17%.

Among those who said they were “very informed” the picture is clearer: 57% said they will not put the ballot in an envelope, 40% said they will, and only 3% have not yet decided what to do.

On the other hand, 24% of voters in the Broad Front reject the plebiscite and 53% will vote in October, with a no less than 23% undecided. As regards the Other parties Opposition supporters of the plebiscite reached 50%, with 24% rejecting it.

In it National Party The rejection rate climbs to 62%, with 18% in favour of the popular consultation and 21% who do not know what they will do in the voting booth. Among the other parties in the coalitionthe rejection is also broad, at 59%, but 29% showed their sympathy for the union initiative.
