In one and a half weeks it will be that time again. The Wels folk festival will start with the test lighting on August 29th and will once again attract tens of thousands of visitors to the trade fair city over the two festival weekends. The OÖNachrichten is a media partner. Today, Friday, the first rides will be delivered and then the setup will begin. The places on the festival grounds are fully booked.

Project manager Christine Wimmer draws up plans for who can stand where every year in spring and autumn. “I’ve been doing this since 2006, I know the showmen’s sensitivities and wishes and I know how to arrange the rides, often there’s only half a meter of space between them,” says Wimmer.
Ferris wheel in front of the wine tasting
There is a very prominent place for the Ferris wheel, which is turning its rounds again this year for the first time in a long time. “It will be set up between the wine tasting area and the festival tent, and it will look wonderful in this position,” says Wimmer happily. The Crazy Mouse, the dizzying Sky Flyer, Break Dance, Tagada and many more are guaranteed to make your heart race and your stomach queasy. Due to the demolition of a pavilion on the fairgrounds, there is now more space for the rides, food trucks and sideshow booths. “It is also important to me to have a good transition from the more spectacular rides to the family and children’s area and good lighting,” says trade fair employee Wimmer.
