The Trade Union Association of Health Professionals of Buenos Aires (CICOP) and the Province of Buenos Aires They agreed on a 8.5% increase in two tranchesto be paid in the months of August and September, and thus closed a new stage of the collective bargaining negotiations in the district.
As already happened with teachers and state workers, now the administration of Axel Kicillof made an identical offer to the doctors, who voted affirmatively for its approval in the assembly, so the understanding was sealed.
Buenos Aires doctors agreed to a new salary increase
The increase will be 8.5% in two installments: 4.5% in August and 4% in September. The agreement is the same as the one closed with the Buenos Aires Teachers’ Unity Front (FUDB) and with the Association of State Workers (ATE) and the Union of Civilian Personnel of the Nation (UPCN) weeks ago. The government also committed to renegotiating in October.
Last Friday, the Ordinary and Extraordinary Congresses of CICOPwith the presence of 218 delegates from more than 70 sections. The offer was approved there, which takes as a calculation basis the salaries of June, which accumulates a 99.4% increase so far in 2024 compared to December 2023.

The union clarified that “The agreement includes an increase in the ranges and limits for the collection of family allowances and a Technical Board on Parental Leave for 10,471 in order to expand those exempt from discounts on plant and guard bonuses, among other work spaces.”
At the same time, the CICOP ratified the proposed modifications to the Statute, which present a series of benefits “that we consider essential to strengthen the structure and operation of the union.”
“Creation of a new provincial body made up of all the sectional presidents, replacement of the presidency by the general secretary, constitution of new Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries, implementation of an internal mechanism to avoid State interference, extension of the duration of mandates by one year and implementation of a specific protocol for addressing situations of violence,” they pointed out.
New statute
According to the association, the new statute approved by CICOP includes a series of new features.
On the first point, the union indicated that it is “The creation of a new provincial body made up of all the sectional presidents and provincial authorities will allow for greater coordination between the different sections and the Provincial Governing Council (CDP).”
They also clarified that this body will not replace the Congress of Delegates, but will function as an additional work area to analyze local problems, coordinate actions and suggest measures to the CDP. This will promote closer and more frequent contact between the different sections and the provincial body.
CICOP also stressed that “an internal mechanism is being implemented to prevent State interference in the union’s electoral processes.” “This will guarantee the independence and autonomy of CICOP, ensuring that union decisions are made without interference from the National State,” they assured.
