The number of BPS contributors has increased again and is close to its historical maximum

The number of contributing positions Social Security Bank (BPS) rose 2.7% year-on-year and reached 1,538,064 in June, so that the indicator remains on the rise and was close to its historical maximum, according to a report from the Social Security Observatory of the Cinve.

If compared on a monthly basis, the contributing positions BPS increased by 0.4%, while the trend-cycle estimate, which isolates the seasonal and irregular components of the series, showed an improvement that was also 0.4%.

“These figures extend the trend of recent months of moderate growth, reflecting a greater dynamism of the formal labor market and placing the indicator at historically high values,” highlighted the economists of Cinve and specified that the growing behavior “seems to have accelerated in the last quarter.”

Regarding the total number of BPS contributors in May, 84.5% were from private sector and the remaining 15.5% belonged to the public sector, the survey highlighted.

Unemployment benefits

On the other hand, the number of beneficiaries of the unemployment benefit was 41,848 in June, which represented an increase of 1.4% compared to the same month in 2023 and a rise of 2.8% in monthly terms.

Meanwhile, the cyclical trend showed a 1.4% drop in monthly terms, continuing the downward trend that began in January.

BPS paid 810,677 pensions in June

The Cinve report stated that the BPS paid 810,667 in June passivities, which represents a year-on-year increase of 1.5%, while the cycle trend showed a slight increase of 0.4% compared to May 2024.

The total was made up of 492,441 retirements (60.7%), 228,177 contributory pensions (28.1%), 87,297 non-contributory pensions (10.8%) and 2,762 temporary subsidies for partial disability (0.3%).

In terms of amounts, the average of pensions paid by BPS amounted to 34,853 pesos, a year-on-year increase of 3.1% in real terms. In turn, the input The average payroll pillar per contributing position was 8,903 pesos, an increase of 10% in real terms.
