Doppler Holding GmbH, based in Wels, has acquired all shares in Primagaz GmbH in Austria as of August 31, 2024. This brings together the number two and number three in the domestic liquefied gas market, with Doppler Gas taking over market leadership in this segment. This was announced in a press release on Monday. In the first step, the plan is to continue to operate the companies in parallel. A merger of the companies is then planned for 2025.

With the takeover, the number of employees at Doppler Gas will increase to more than 100 people, who will jointly pursue the goal of further expanding Doppler Gas’s market position. On the one hand, management expects the merger to secure jobs for employees. On the other hand, the expansion of company shares will create jobs and secure the market position.
In order to meet the increasing demands, the filling station for bottled gas in Enns will be further developed and expanded in the coming years. With the strategically located locations in Niklasdorf, Enns, Frastanz and Kirchbichl, Doppler Holding has the largest storage capacity for liquid gas in Austria.
Sales volume of 90,000 tons
The liquefied gas storage capacity amounts to 5,036 tonnes, which means that in the event of a shortage, the supply to the Austrian market is secured for the next 20 days, it is said. The joint company’s supply of propane and butane will essentially be ensured by the refinery system in Austria and southern Bavaria, as well as by purchases on the free markets in Antwerp.
