In the sequel, which will be released on October 17, a pop star (Naomi Scott) is driven mad by an evil curse that claims victims in the form of a creepy smile.

What is Smile 2 about?
As she embarks on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Scott) begins to experience increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the mounting horrors and pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her dark past in order to regain control of her life before it’s too late.
The first installment concluded with Joel witnessing the horrific death of his ex-girlfriend Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) after she sets herself on fire due to the mysterious smiling demon. Whoever witnesses another person’s death at the hands of the entity becomes the next victim to commit suicide, meaning Joel could soon face the same fate.
Other cast members include Lukas Gage, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dylan Gelula, Raul Castillo and Miles Gutierrez-Riley.
From streaming to cinema
Although it was originally scheduled for an exclusive streaming premiere in Paramount+the studio behind the film gave it to Smile a full theatrical release, a move that paid $217 million at the global box office. The smirking success of the first film no doubt convinced Paramount to sign on for another. If the latest installment can achieve similar results, it could be the start of the newest saga in a long line of classic horror franchises.
Following the release of the first film, Finn briefly discussed the possibility of a sequel: “I think there’s still a lot of interesting things to explore in the world of ‘Smile.’ There are certainly stones that I left unturned by design.”
