Picnic, also known as “picnic”, comes from the English word picnic and the French word pique-nique. In Argentina, it has always been a tradition to gather for lunch or a snack in a country setting. It is a country meal.
But times have changed, and there are other alternatives to celebrate the long-awaited spring.
A Gourmet Picnic offers more elaborate and sophisticated meals: from mushroom quiches, focaccia sandwiches, smoked salmon and green salad, rib-eye sandwiches, to pistachio pudding, macaron-ice cream, tiramisu in glasses, a cinnamon roll or chocolate truffles and specialty coffee.
Thus, on September 14 and 15, a new edition of the Picnic Gourmet Fair arrives, which honors picnics and brings us closer to spring. With more than 30 food stands, with a wide range of flavors, accompanied by live music and masterclasses to enjoy a weekend in the heart of Palermo.
Each visitor will be able to choose from more than 30 stations with traditional flavors from Argentina, Japan, France, Italy, the United States, Colombia, Venezuela, Germany and Belgium so that everyone can choose and combine dishes to create their ideal picnic at El Rosedal.
Guests will be able to choose from classic options such as cheeses and cakes, or more exotic options such as a pretzel or sushi. There will also be alternatives for those who prefer to enjoy a sweet picnic with top-quality pastries, as well as options for celiacs and vegetarians.
What is the system like?
Visitors will have tables and tablecloths available for their picnics among the flowers and trees of this true oasis of the city. In addition, on Saturday and Sunday there will be masterclasses, live music and other entertainment that will be the perfect seasoning for these two exquisite days.
“The idea was born with the aim of organizing an outdoor gastronomic event to enjoy with family, friends or on a romantic date. The good thing is that picnic food can be adapted to a variety of tastes and budgets. Some like it salty, others like it sweet… But there is no doubt that we all love picnics surrounded by nature!”, say Cecilia and Carlos, executive producers of Feria Picnic Gourmet, both with extensive experience in gastronomic productions.
