2,000 new patrol cars for the police

In the next four years, all police stations will be equipped with the Skoda Kodiaq.

By 2029, all police stations are expected to be equipped with the Skoda Kodiaq, Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP), Federal Police Director Michael Takacs and General Peter Skorsch, head of Group IV/A in the Interior Ministry, announced on Thursday.

“Modern, robust, functional”

The “police cars of the future” were presented in the Roßauer Kaserne in Vienna. Karner put the first five cars into service and praised them as “modern, robust, safe, practical and beautiful”. According to Federal Police Director Takacs, police officers cover around 130 million kilometers in patrol cars every year. A huge number of operations are handled, around 12,000 emergency calls nationwide every day.
