Royal rebel: Prince Harry turns 40

Harry is in the process of building a new life for himself in California.

On 19 May 2018, Prince Harry married the American actress Meghan Markle in Windsor

Boozy escapades as a teenager, nude photos and attending a party in a Nazi costume: “Dirty Harry”, as the media called him at the time, has already achieved a lot in his life. But the interview with talk show legend Oprah Winfrey (70) and a biography that was full of insults to members of the Royal Family and indiscretions were just too much.

Prince Harry will probably celebrate his birthday tomorrow, September 15, without his father King Charles (75), brother William (42) and his wife Kate (42) – the hurt on both sides is too deep.

Harry was always the wilder, more laid-back and more life-hungry prince of Charles and Diana’s two sons. While the older one was being prepared for his role as heir to the throne, he played the role of the rebel in the royal family. And hearts simply flew to the charming prince.

Since Harry’s last big birthday ten years ago, his life has changed completely, as the newspaper “Telegraph” notes. At 30, he had just left the army, for which he had fought twice in Afghanistan, and was considered the most popular member of the royal family. Brother William threw a party for the then fourth in line to the throne, and dad Charles donated the champagne.

“Escape to freedom”

A decade later, everything is different. Four years ago, he and his wife Meghan embarked on the “escape to freedom,” as he himself called their emigration to the USA. Since then, his popularity has dropped rapidly, and in the popularity polls he is only followed by his uncle Prince Andrew (64), who fell from grace due to his involvement in a sexual abuse scandal. Harry is likely to spend his special day tomorrow at home – around 8,800 kilometers as the crow flies from London – in California with Meghan and their children Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (3).
