Rain in Upper Austria: “On Tuesday we made it”

Rain in Upper Austria: “On Tuesday we made it”

In the central region and further south, up to 50 liters are possible. This is only half as much as the amount of rain recorded on Saturday in Unterach am Attersee. “The worst is over,” says meteorologist Claudia Riedl. Nevertheless, the additional rain on Monday is very unfavorable for the saturated soils.

In addition, the snow line continues to rise: up to 1500 meters, the new snow will have largely disappeared. Above a good 2000 meters, it is expected to rain today. Yesterday, there was still 90 centimeters of new snow at the weather station on the Krippenstein, which is at an altitude of 1963 meters. The “worst case” scenario would be that the snow melts too quickly. “At the moment, it doesn’t look like that,” was the meteorologist’s assessment yesterday.

“On Tuesday we did it”

The further forecast is optimistic: this evening the precipitation should gradually subside. “We managed it on Tuesday,” says Riedl. Then the sky will clear. With the sun, the temperatures will slowly rise. On Wednesday the 20-degree mark should be reached. The rest of the week is also expected to be pleasant: “It looks like there will be quite sunny and largely dry days.”

Only in the mountains and in the Mühlviertel region can isolated showers not be ruled out. “The low pressure system will still be lingering southwest of Upper Austria, so we will not be under the pure influence of high pressure.”
