Anouar G., a 38-year-old German man, was heading to the Frankfurt train station (Germany) to visit his mother, when he stopped after finding a piece of paper on the ground. It seemed like something unimportant, but when he looked at it closely he couldn’t get over his astonishment.
It was a check worth nearly $5 million. The doubt between living financially in peace and returning the money to whom it belonged took hold of him, and finally decided to do the right thing.
The check was signed by the German supermarket chain Rewe and destined for a recognized gummy manufacturing companyworth US$4,631,538.80. The man decided to contact the recipient of the money and inform him of what had happened. On the other end of the phone, a lawyer asked him to destroy the check and then send a photo proving that he had done so.
Days later, she received something for her nice gesture, although it was not what she expected. The gummy bear company sent him a box with six packages of gummy bears. -the specialty that characterizes them- as a way of thanking them. The company explained that this is the “standard package” that they send as a thank you to their clients.
