The trees in the orchards in St. Marienkirchen produce more cider fruit than they have for a long time. The gnarled old trees are the magnificent backdrop for the Weberbartl apple hike, to which around 2,000 to 3,000 visitors are expected on Sunday. The OÖNachrichten is the media partner of the popular event in the unofficial “most capital” of the country. The hike, which bears the name of an old regional apple variety, is again organized by the Obst-Hügel-Land Nature Park.
Enjoyment and adventure stations
The eleven stations along the route are primarily operated by local clubs. Here hikers can get enough strength for the approximately eleven kilometer long hike, which is signposted as a circular route in both directions.
“This year we have a new route from Leopoldsberg towards Lengau and back via Eben,” says Rainer Silber, managing director of the Obst-Hügel-Land Nature Park. He advises taking enough time, as there is once again a varied program for the whole family with adventure stations for the children such as the popular apple juice pressing. This year a horse farm and a dairy farm are also taking part, giving an insight into their work. Children can also have fun on a bouncy castle or have their face painted.
