On Thursday, Musk headlined the event “We, Robot” of Tesla, held on the Warner Bros. parking lot in Burbank, California, which had initially been scheduled for August, but was delayed until October due to the need for technological modifications. While I was there, presented its Optimus robots which at first appeared unmanned, but were later revealed to be teleoperated by humans in real time. Although the highlight of the night was the Cybercab presentationwith its wing-shaped doors and lack of a steering wheel and pedals, Musk also revealed the Robovan, a self-driving bus that can transport goods and/or up to 20 people. Although the event was highly publicized online, it caused a significant drop in shares, indicating investor disappointment.
Director Alex Proyas’ complaint to Elon Musk about his designs
The striking resemblance did not go unnoticed – nor appreciated – by Proyas, who turned to Musk’s own X platform to criticize the executive for copying his creations.
“Hey Elon, can I have my designs back please?”wrote the Australian director, who is also behind films like The Crow of 1994.

Proyas will soon be in Sydney, Australia, filming his upcoming satirical sci-fi film RUR, starting October 21.
It is not the first time that a Tesla product shows marked similarities with a design from a movie set in the future. In 2019, some compared the Cybertruck to a sleek steel car from Total Recall of Paul Veerhoven.
