The police received no fewer than 220 tips from the public in connection with the public search for the suspected double murderer Roland Drexler. Every new piece of information is checked, every trace is pursued with varying intensity. The operational team at the headquarters in Linz decides which clue is investigated and in what form. The area searched so far – including extremely impassable forest terrain, meadows and fields – is around 100 square meters in size, which is approximately the area of the state capital Linz or 14,000 football fields.

“Every tip is valuable”
Despite the large number of reports, the executive branch is still in the dark in its search for Roland Drexler. There is also no trace of the getaway vehicle, a silver VW Caddy with the license plate RO-231 EL. “Even if there is unfortunately no success to report yet, every tip is valuable. Because after the check, at least something can be ruled out,” says a police spokesman in the OÖN interview.

On Thursday evening, the operations staff of the Upper Austria State Police Directorate thanked each individual who came forward and continues to appeal to the population to keep their eyes open. The warning was also renewed not to seek confrontation with the person you are looking for if you see someone, but to alert the police immediately. The 56-year-old could be armed and is considered “very, very dangerous.”
