At least two people died after a fire registered this Friday, November 15, in the afternoon in a building in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Flowers. Furthermore, other 27 people were treated for different health conditionswhile a group of neighbors are still trapped on the terrace.
According to doctors from the SAME who arrived at the scene to assist the neighbors, the victims are a 43-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman.
The head of the emergency service, Alberto Crescentiindicated that there are 27 affected and 6 transfers, which are at the Cecilia Grierson and Piñero hospitals. Everyone is out of danger.
Meanwhile, according to the City Police, the firefighters are working at the scene this afternoon to rescue the people who took refuge on the terrace of the building
In dialogue with TN, Crescenti assured that “On the third floor, a large amount of smoke was observed coming out of one of the units”so “they proceeded to clear the access and a 38 mm line was laid.” In addition, one team “went to ventilate the stairs while another went to look for possible victims.”
The building has 16 floors and is located at 1,400 Varela Avenue. The fire broke out on the third floor and smoke covered the entire building.
On the fifth floor they found an unconscious victim who was taken down the stairs.In the 14th, CPR maneuvers had to be performed on a man before he could be removed from the scene alive.
While on the fifth and sixth floors the staff also rescued to an older woman who was first taken to a fourth-floor balcony, where CPR was also performed. When the smoke cleared, she was referred to Piñero Hospital for smoke inhalation.
