The Argentine Automobile Club celebrated its 120th anniversary with a gala at its headquarters

He Automobile Club Argentino (ACA) fulfilled, on November 27, 120° years since its foundation. Under the motto “more than a century promoting your path”, the association held an event at its headquarters in the City of Buenos Aires to celebrate.

The meeting brought together directors, employees and partners of the institution, in addition to having the presence of prominent authorities of the National Executive Branch and the City of Buenos Aires. Among the most prominent figures who participated in the event were: the Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports of the Nation, Daniel Scioli; the Head of City Government, Jorge Macri; the President of YPF, Horacio Daniel Marín; and the President of La Caja de Ahorro y Seguro, Santiago Sturla.

During his speech, Carman assured that the institution remains valid and solid as its first leaders dreamed of on June 11, 1904: “Led by Dalmiro Varela Castex, they laid the foundations for a mission that endures to this day,” and then added: “They were visionary and brave men who introduced motorsports to Argentina at a time when blood-based traction was the norm.”

The president of the ACA explained that success is based on three fundamental pillars: “The partnerswho with their contribution maintained a federal work and that they are loyal, present and identified with our principles. The employeeswho wear the Club’s shirt and who work daily with courage, effort and determination. And the authorities, who contributed and contribute their time selflessly, ad honoremknowing that they represent a just and noble cause.”

Regarding the mission that everyone can move and enjoy an Argentina without restrictions, Carman analyzed: “We observe this in the deployment and permanent growth of our infrastructure network and service stations. Something that would have been impossible without a strategic partner as YPF was and continues to be; In that alliance a true game is played for national sovereignty and the integration of the homeland”, he stressed.

When referring to Formula 1, he recalled the support that the ACA gave to great drivers such as Juan Manuel Fangio, José Froilán González, Carlos Reutemann and now, Franco Colapinto. “Fighting so that the Argentine flag flies at the top of the podium is a permanent mission for this institution and, even more so, doing so on Argentine soil,” he highlighted.

“The ACA never leaves you alone. Neither in the streets, nor on the routes, nor on the Formula 1 tracks”, he concluded.

As part of the celebrations for the 120th anniversary of the founding of the Automobile Club Argentino (ACA), the institution joined forces with YPF to install a gigantography that pays tribute to three of the greatest Argentine drivers in the history of the Formula 1: Juan Manuel Fangio, Carlos Reutemann and Franco Colapinto.

In total, the image measures 36.5 meters wide x 20 meters high, and is the largest of its kind to honor Argentine drivers who have raced in Formula 1.

It should be remembered that the ACA joined the FIA ​​in 1926the entity responsible for the organization of racing races Formula 1and that together with her, the Club organized an innumerable number of automobile events in Argentina, including the Grand Prix that, since 1953 and at different stages, it was part of the category’s calendar.

In turn, the ACA was fundamental in supporting the great Argentine Formula 1 drivers throughout the history of the institution, both in professional development and logistical aspects. In fact, several cars used by Argentine drivers in Formula 1 races are exhibited in the Automobile Museum at the Club’s headquarters.

Regarding the reasons for the tribute, the president of the ACA Board of Directors, César Carman, assured that “Representing Argentina in world motorsport is a fundamental task for the Club. and the achievements of drivers like Fangio, Reutemann, and now Colapinto, fill us with pride and are the result of that effort.”
