The Mining industrial production rose 3.6% year-on-year in Octoberdriven by the extraction of oil and gas and minerals for the manufacture of chemical products, according to information from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).
The mining Industrial Production Index (IPI) showed an increase of 3.6% compared to the same month in 2023 and in the accumulated January-October 2024 registered an increase of 6.4% compared to the same accumulated period of the previous year.
In October 2024, the seasonally adjusted series index shows a decrease of 1.0% compared to the previous month and the trend-cycle series index registers a positive variation close to zero compared to the previous month.
The extraction of crude oil and natural gas and support services for the extraction of crude oil and natural gas had an increase of 3.7% in October compared to the same month in 2023. The accumulated January-October 2024 presents an increase of 7.7% compared to the same accumulated of the previous year.
Extraction of metalliferous minerals showed an increase of 2.0% compared to the same month in 2023; while the accumulated January-October 2024 presents a decrease of 4.4% compared to the same accumulated of the previous year.
The extraction of non-metalliferous minerals and application rocks showed an increase of 3.9% compared to the same month in 2023; and the accumulated January-October 2024 presents an increase of 0.9% compared to the same accumulated of the previous year.
Meanwhile, The extraction of minerals for the manufacture of chemical products increased 26.5% compared to the same month in 2023. The accumulated January-October 2024 presents an increase of 38.8% compared to the same accumulated of the previous year.
In October 2024, The extraction of crude oil registered an increase of 12.4% compared to the same month in 2023. The accumulated January-October 2024 presents an increase of 10.2% compared to the same accumulated of the previous year.
In October 2024, 1,521.7 thousand m3 of conventional crude oil and 2,099.5 thousand m3 of unconventional crude oil were extracted, which respectively presenta decrease of 4.8% and an increase of 29.4% compared to the same month of the previous year.
The extraction of conventional and unconventional natural gas grew 5.7% compared to the same month in 2023 and between January-October 2024 it showed an increase of 5.6% year-on-year.
In October 2024, 1,616.5 million m3 of conventional natural gas and 2,510.6 million m3 of unconventional natural gas were extracted. which present, respectively, a decrease of 1.9% and an increase of 11.3% compared to the same month of the previous year.
