The municipality is advancing with the final works at the old Urban Control headquarters to centralize a modern operations center with different areas linked to security, emergencies and public order.

To guarantee greater efficiency and speed in the action of the city’s prevention system, The municipality of La Plata advances with the assembly of the Municipal Operations Center (COM)an innovative space in which all local government agencies dedicated to security, public order and emergencies will operate under a new concept of comprehensiveness with cutting-edge technology.

As reported, Work has already begun to transform the abandoned building on the corner of 20 and 50 into the largest operational center in the province of Buenos Aires in terms of prevention, which will centralize the different areas that currently operate in different locations.

With the expectation of inaugurating it in the coming days, the management of Julio Alak is preparing the bidding processes to acquire a new video surveillance system with 1,200 cameras that will be added to the existing 920 and 100 patent readers that will be incorporated into the unified digital ring with Berisso and Ensenada to control vehicles at the main accesses.

Likewise, the COM will maintain direct communication with the 120 patrol vessels that will disembark in La Plata to extend the prevention system to the entire city. It will also allow the monitoring of between 900 and 2,000 new cameras with a fiber optic system, whose images the Judiciary will have access to, and will be equipped with a digital video surveillance system with 39 screens, another with 24 and a third with 6 for emergencies.

For its implementation, the Municipality will generate new jobs in various areas, including telephone service to neighbors, the operating rooms of the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME), as well as in the video wall and the spaces intended for viewing and editing images and meetings.

From a garbage dump to a security pole

While the final work progresses, the municipality has already removed 100 trucks with scrap metal, abandoned motorcycles, motorcycle vehicle parts, debris, mattresses, bottles, broken and dirty furniture, wires, cables, signage, tires and waste baskets, among other disused objects. .

In addition, the offices there were leaking and damp, the bathrooms had major breaks, the water connections in the toilets were poor and the electricity connections were in very poor condition. Some of the spaces were even at risk of collapse and had to be dismantled.
