The exact deadline for disposing of Christmas trees varies from country to country. In Sweden, Finland and Norway, for example, the Christmas season ends on St. Canute’s Day, January 13th, when the Christmas trees are then decorated and disposed of. In this country, there is a little more leeway when it comes to the official end of the Christmas season and thus when the Christmas tree needs to be disposed of.
Out the window on Epiphany?
“For us, the Christmas tree literally flies out on January 6th. We throw him down by the balcony and dad picks him up with the tractor,” report Susanne Stelzer (22) and Johannes Kern (24), from Rohrbach.
Elfriede Edinger (74), from Linz, also agrees with the Epiphany deadline: “After January 6th, the Christmas tree will be disposed of – that’s usual for us. We are waiting for LINZ AG to come and pick up the trees.”
