The Pentagon announced the absence of permanent US military forces in Ukraine

The US has no offensive weapons and no permanent forces in Ukraine. This was stated on Friday by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milley, speaking to reporters at the Pentagon.

“If Russia invades Ukraine, it will not go without consequences. Ukraine hosts a small number of US and NATO advisers and trainers. The US has no offensive weapons systems in Ukraine and no permanent forces. Our role is limited,” Milli said.

According to him, American specialists are helping to train the Ukrainian military in combat tactics.

“We are participating in the institutional development of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. We will continue to provide Ukraine with military material support,” Milli concluded.

Earlier that day, another plane loaded with ammunition from the United States arrived in Ukraine. On board the liner is 81 tons of shells of various calibers.

The day before, US Defense Department spokesman John Kirby said that as part of the next package of military assistance to Kiev, the United States is preparing to send defensive and offensive weapons. What exactly Washington intends to send to Ukraine, he did not specify, noting only that we are talking about “lethal and non-lethal” means.

Earlier, Washington sent three shipments of military aid to Ukraine. The first shipment of munitions arrived on January 2 as part of American aid due to allegedly mounting Russian aggression.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out on January 24 that the actions of the United States and NATO are leading to an escalation of tension in Ukraine. He pointed out that it “is carried out through information actions and concrete actions that the US and NATO are taking.” In his opinion, there are many rumors and unreliable data about the situation in Ukraine and the allegedly planned attack by Russia, which are “information hysteria”.

The Russian Embassy called on the United States to refuse to supply weapons to Ukraine. The embassy said in a statement that the United States should abandon plans to supply new batches of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine if they are actually committed to diplomatic efforts to resolve the intra-Ukrainian conflict.

In the Western media, articles have repeatedly appeared about the allegedly possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. Against this background, American lawmakers are calling for tougher sanctions against Moscow. Russia has repeatedly rejected reports of an alleged possible invasion of Ukraine.
